Come join amateur astronomers from the Central Maine Astronomical Society in celebrating Astronomy Day, a nationwide celebration of our skies.

Schedule of events:

  • 1 - 4 Displays, Mirror demonstration, children's activities, Safe solar viewing through a variety of telescopes.
  • 6:30 pm: Prof. Eric Wollman, Bates professor of Astronomy will give a talk entitled "The Case for a Cold Early Universe"
  • 8 pm: (weather permitting) Star Party. Come look at Saturn, the moon and other wonderful gems of the night sky through various large telescopes. Feel free to bring that telescope that you haven't yet mastered. We'll have lots of experienced amateur astronomers ready to help you get the most out of your scope.
